The East Side Killer

Following Bond's lead, Edmund drew his phantom shotgun, the handy artifact that proved ever so useful. He kept a wary eye about, but the buzz of flies, the smell of decay, and whatever lurked in the spiritual realm with him would likely prove distracting.

Over the suffocating din of the flies, both agents heard a quiet choking noise from behind a rock at the other end of the clearing.

Frank took one look at the carnage and began to vomit. Sometimes death is an asset.

With the son-in-law busy vomiting, 007 risked a whisper toward Edmund,

"Your shotgun won't do anything against a possessed body. And more to the point: when we come up on the Jason, we need to disable the meat after your kids are clear. Then yea, we open up with our spiritual weapons."

Looking back at Frank, Bond yells,

"I hear something over here! Hurry!"

Hearing the noise, Edmund ran. He ran as quickly as his gauze could carry him. "It's not the Jason I'm as worried about!" But his specter. That will prove more than an annoyance. "Come on!"

They bounded across the clearing, reaching the rock on the opposite side.

Behind that rock was the body of Lily, a long bleeding gash across her head.

Bleeding, but alive and breathing, although unconscious. Edmund breathed a small sigh of relief. He did not sense his spectre in the area.

But, back in the clearing, there was a sound of a swift whack, and a scream. Frank's scream. A cold feeling washed over Edmund once more (Gain 1 spite point)

"Great, now who's going to carry the girl?"

Bond turned and, without another word, began to stalk stealthily back toward Frank's position. He left the unspoken option hanging in the tense air behind him.

So. Let's see if there are any principles left in the old Brit. Grab the daughter and run and you'll save her, but I doubt my odds in a 2-on-1. Stay and fight and I wonder what body the Jason'll hop to when we disable this one.

He shook his head and cocked back the hammer of the PPK,

I should have stayed on that beach.

"I'll watch her, James. Just try to save my son," if he can be saved at all, "and I'll cover myself, Lily, and you spectrally. If anything dares manifest I'll be there to greet it. But we can't have anything sneaking up on us ready to jump in the people we're trying to save." He felt he had a point.

So for the meanwhile, artifact shotgun full of that wonderful endless supply of gauze slugs was primed, and Edmund kept a keen lookout.

Edmund took cover behind the rock and tended as he could to his daughter, while James wheeled about the rock and brought his gun to bear on the presence there.

(James should roll initiative before acting. Edmund should too.)

Standing there in the clearing, over the wounded form of Frank Barber, was Arthur MacAlester, clad in that same suit he wore on the day of his possession. It was ragged and torn, and covered with blood stains of varying age. His face was haggard and unshaven, his skin grey and ashen, his once finely coiffed hair a mess. And in his hands was that same ax with which he had inflicted so much suffering, somehow still sharp enough to kill. But above all else, it was his eyes that terrified, the eyes of a killer, mad and empty of humanity--swirling portals to Nothing. No, there was nothing now left of Arthur MacAlester.

With a face empty of emotion, he raised his ax as if ready to strike again.

I'm gonna be early and I know Rob's always early. Since we know what we're doing it shouldn't be hard to get through it when we all sit down. )
